Money stress touches everything: sleep, marriages, health and faith. The Bible talks about money a lot, and it offers both comfort and practical wisdom. Here are eight King James verses for seasons when the numbers don't add up.
The verses
1. Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Paul wrote this to a church that had been generous. God promises to supply what you truly need.
2. Matthew 6:26 (KJV)
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"
Jesus points to the birds. They don't worry about food, and God feeds them. You matter even more.
3. Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Seeking God first doesn't mean ignoring your bills. It means facing them with the right priorities.
4. Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Contentment rests on a promise: God will never leave you, whatever your balance says.
5. Proverbs 21:5 (KJV)
"The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want."
Steady, careful planning beats hasty decisions. This verse is practical money advice.
6. 1 Timothy 6:6-7 (KJV)
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."
Contentment is described as "great gain." We brought nothing in, and we take nothing out.
7. Proverbs 27:23 (KJV)
"Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds."
"Know the state of thy flocks" means knowing your numbers. Looking at your accounts honestly is wise.
8. Psalm 37:25 (KJV)
"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
A long life's testimony: God's people are not forsaken.
A prayer for money worries
Lord, money is tight and I'm worried. You know exactly what I need. Help me trust you to provide, give me wisdom with what I have, and show me the next right step. Amen.
