Trusting God is easiest to talk about and hardest to do when the outcome is unknown. These eight King James verses aren't about having every answer. They're about trusting the One who does, even when the picture isn't finished yet.

The verses

1. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Trust isn't the absence of your own thinking. It's choosing not to lean on it alone.

2. Psalm 9:10 (KJV)

"And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."

Trust grows from knowing who God is, not just hoping He exists.

3. Isaiah 26:4 (KJV)

"Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."

"Everlasting strength" doesn't run out partway through your hard season.

4. Psalm 20:7 (KJV)

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."

Everyone trusts something. This verse asks what, or who, you're actually leaning on.

5. Nahum 1:7 (KJV)

"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."

Trouble doesn't cancel His goodness. It's exactly where this verse places it.

6. Psalm 125:1 (KJV)

"They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever."

A mountain doesn't shake because the weather changes. Neither does trust rooted in God.

7. Jeremiah 17:7 (KJV)

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is."

A short verse worth memorizing for the moments trust feels hardest.

8. Proverbs 29:25 (KJV)

"The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."

Fear of what people think can trap you. Trust in God is offered here as the way out.

A prayer for trusting God

Lord, I don't have the full picture, and that's hard for me. Help me trust You instead of leaning only on my own understanding. Be my strength when I can't see the next step, the way Christ is my strength every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Putting it into practice

  • Name the one thing you're struggling to trust God with right now, out loud.

  • Write Proverbs 3:5-6 somewhere you'll see it during a hard decision.

  • Thank God for one time He came through before, as a reminder for today.
