Whatever is ending for you, something new is also starting, even if it doesn't feel that way yet. Scripture is full of fresh starts: a new creation, a new heart, a new thing springing up in the wilderness. Here are eight King James verses for the start of a new chapter.

The verses

1. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Not a patched-up version of the old you. A genuinely new start.

2. Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)

"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."

God doesn't need easy conditions to start something new. A wilderness will do.

3. Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Paul doesn't pretend the past didn't happen. He simply stops reaching backward.

4. Revelation 21:5 (KJV)

"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

God's final word over everything is renewal, not ruin.

5. Ezekiel 36:26 (KJV)

"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."

A new beginning that starts on the inside, not just in your circumstances.

6. Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."

A short, honest prayer for a fresh start, worth praying any morning.

7. Joel 2:25 (KJV)

"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten..."

God doesn't just start something new. He can restore what felt permanently lost.

8. Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)

"For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again..."

A new beginning isn't about never falling. It's about getting back up, again.

A prayer for a new beginning

Lord, thank You for making all things new through Christ, including me. Help me stop reaching for what's behind and trust You with what's ahead. Give me a clean heart and a right spirit for this next chapter. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Putting it into practice

  • Write down one thing from the old season you're ready to set down.

  • Pray Psalm 51:10 as your own words this week.

  • Take one small, concrete step today toward the new season, even a tiny one.
